When you come out of a divorce or even just a long-term relationship, it’s easy to have suffered a few blows to the ego on the way through. Many people take a long time to regain their confidence, particularly if they have been rejected or they have been given the elbow for someone else. It’s perfectly natural to feel a little low and like your self-esteem has hit the floor, but many people are choosing to do something radical about it. Plastic surgery is not just for the rich and famous – it’s for anyone that has long-term body issues that they can’t resolve themselves. Here are some procedures that some people opt for if they decide that plastic surgery is an option for them:

Liposuction (and similar techniques such as CoolSculpting) is a really popular choice for those that need to shift a few stubborn pounds. It’s not for people who are overweight – rather it is good at tackling certain areas which need attention. It’s regularly carried out on the face to make it look plumper, as well as on other common areas of trouble such as the thighs, the buttocks and the tummy. Liposuction is the removal of fat with a vacuum-like tool, and CoolSculpting is a way of dissolving fat.

Many people are really self-conscious of their thighs if they are riddled with cellulite (also known as the ‘orange peel’ effect). There are various different procedures available, the most popular of which is probably laser cellulite removal which is effective even after one treatment. Some people try all the cellulite removal creams first, but others are cynical about their effectiveness and skip straight to the laser treatment option. It’s a simple procedure and it doesn’t take much time to recover. Speak to your consultant if you are interested in having this done and they will tell you more.

Breast Augmentation/Reduction

Many women are really hung up about their breasts. If they are too big they can make you look overweight all over, and also have a very bad impact on the health of your back. If they are too small you may feel a little inadequate and not very ‘womanly’. It is after a big life-changing event such as a divorce that women very often choose to do something about it, and have their breasts enlarged or reduced. It takes careful thought and consideration and it’ll take a while to recover from, but on the plus side your confidence will receive a huge boost. Men do not escape having worries about this area of their body either – many men afflicted by ‘moobs’ (man boobs) choose to have them reduced.

There are many other procedures you can opt for such as Rhinoplasty (a nose job). If there is a certain area of your body which causes you concern, perhaps now is the time to do something about it? Your first step is to have a consultation with a trained plastic surgeon. They will be able to tell you more about the procedure that you’re interested in, and help you make your decision.
